My Skincare Routine with The Body Shop at Home

I really want to apologise to The Body Shop at Home and Talented Talkers, who invited me to a wonderful event, transformed my entire skincare routine and then my life got in the way of the blog post I was so keen to write. Not that any blogger should ever feel obligated to write about an event, however this was a bit special.

The Event

I was invited to The Butterfly and the Pig with a host of other lovely Scottish bloggers, and treated to afternoon tea, learned all about The Body Shop at Home and then had a photography masterclass. What was particularly lovely about this event was that we all went home with a bag of Body Shop goodies, specifically catered to our individual skin types. This products have absolutely transformed my skincare routine.

My Skincare Routine

I can’t lie. Before this event I was pretty damn lazy about taking care of my skin. Makeup I was all over, but skincare? What difference would it really make? When I received the lovely bag of products from the Body Shop at Home event I thought it was only fair I give them a good test – and I certainly have. I’ve been using these products for a few months now and I’m extremely impressed.

Morning

In the morning after I do a workout (I know, you’d never think it 😉 ) I cleanse my face with the Garnier Micellar Water. I am absolutely obsessed with this stuff. Not only does it last forever (it takes me a good while to get through a bottle) it is so gentle on the skin and a great way to remove makeup. I pour some on a cotton pad and give my face a quick cleanse before applying The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser.

This moisturiser smells heavenly (very citrus-y as you’d expect) and is a very light texture – perfect for during the day. I let this sink in while I faff about (happens every morning) then I apply my makeup.

Evening/Night

When I get home after work (and I have no other plans) the first thing I want to do is get into something comfortable, take my makeup off and chill out. I remove my makeup using the Garnier Micellar Water again, then I cleanse using The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Cream Cleanser. This product also smells amazing, and is so light and gentle on my skin. It removes all the dirt and makeup I might have missed with the micellar water and leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished.

After I’ve cleansed, I use The Body Shop’s Aloe Calming Toner. Now I don’t want to alarm anyone, but I think this product may have magical powers. I swear, if I can feel a spot coming up or my skin looks red/irritated I use a little bit extra of this toner (and my night cream but I’ll get to that in a minute) and by morning the spot has reduced or the redness has gone. Granted, it could just be the aloe vera and not magic but either way it’s bloody fantastic.

Once I’m all cleansed and toned I apply my eye cream, which is also (in case you haven’t guessed by now!) by The Body Shop. It’s their Nutriganics Smoothing Eye Cream, and my first ever anti-aging product. The Nutriganics range is designed for the first signs of aging, and this particular eye cream is supposed to smooth lines around the eyes. I can’t honestly say I’ve noticed too much of a difference but at the same time I’m not currently concerned about lines around my eyes. It is, however, a lovely texture and very hydrating.

To finish off my evening/night skincare routine I apply the Aloe Night Soothing Cream which is fairly similar to the aloe toner, in that it has magical properties. As with the toner it seems to reduce redness and help combat any skin issues I have. The consistency is thicker than the Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser but that is expected from a night cream. Love it.

It might seem a bit mad to have completely converted to The Body Shop for my skincare but currently this is working for me and I’m happy to continue using these products until I try something that I’d like to replace an element with. I’m certainly all for taking care of my skin now at least, which my face is probably grateful for.

The Body Shop at Home

If you’re interested in trying more Body Shop products you can host a Body Shop at Home party, where you can try products in the comfort of your own home with your friends and family. The consultant who was at our Body Shop at Home event was called Claire and she was so knowledgeable and lovely. It was very easy to see how passionate she was about the products which, along with the great success I’ve had from my skincare products, has made me want to try more of what The Body Shop has to offer.

I hope this post has been useful! Thanks for reading 🙂
